The Canadian Association for Black Health and Safety Professionals(CABHSP) is a grass-roots non-profit organization that advocates for the health and safety of all workers regardless of race, religion, gender identity, ability or age. Our founding members have a combined twenty-nine years of industry experience in occupational health and safety.
We are especially concerned about the safety and well-being of Black/racialized workers who are routinely exposed to psycho-social hazards in the form of overt racism and micro-aggressions in the workplace, as a result of which they develop disabling mental health conditions. To respond, CABHSP provides Black/racialized workers with education, mentorship, and coaching on workplace psych-social health and safety. We also connect them with social services, mental health support and employment resources and provide a way for them to engage with and support each other.
We are an association that promotes the common interests of black health and safety professionals in the safety profession through networking, collaboration, mentoring, and education.
We look to provide countless opportunities for black people to connect with great resources and great people while engaging with each other internationally. We offer preparatory training so that our members can put it into practice, as well as a wide range of leadership training opportunities to help our members develop to their fullest potential.
